May 7 marks the 60th Anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe.
Canada was a major player in the war and like many countries in the alliance, made a major shift in National maturity.
To commemorate the occasion, the Royal Canadian Mint has produced a set including a replica of the 1945 nickel, with the torch of victory superimposed over a V, representing Victory and the Roman numeral V for 5¢.
The same V and effigy of King George VI are reproduced on a medallion commemorating the event. The original V of the coin is blended with the Maple Leaf and portraits of members of the Navy, Army and Air Force.
Presented in an embossed metal case with a colourful historical booklet.
