Year of the Pig stamp errors make Lunar New Year a happy one for collectors |
The 52c domestic rate year of the pig stamp has been found missing the silver and gold colours, so that the printing enhancements are not seen on the floral patterns decorating the pig. About 250 of the stamps were purchased by an Ottawa stamp dealer, and dispersed to leading stamp dealers across Canada. Currently valued at about $1,000.00 each, the highlight-less stamps should prove highlights to collections of lunar new year, or modern Canadian stamps. |

| There is also a strong demand for the year of the pig uncut sheets, issued as posters by Canada Post. The printing of 15,000 is as low as the first lunar new year of the ox uncut sheet issue, which now trades at about $300.00. Apparently there is a shortened line of printing error at the very bottom of the sheet, which is fuelling an additional speculative market for the year of the pig uncut sheets. The year of the pig uncut sheets are currently selling for about $60.00. | ||
