Royal Mail’s latest special stamps commemorate HRH Prince Charles’s marriage to Mrs Camilla Parker Bowles. We are issuing the stamps on the same day of the wedding as a mark of respect.
The issue consists of two stamps doubled up on a Miniature Sheet. The photographs from which the stamps are sourced reveal the couple in an informal and relaxed mood. The 30p stamp features them at the Mey Games in the Scottish Highlands in August 2004, while the 68p stamp sees them enjoying their time together at Birkhall, the Prince’s Scottish residence, in January 2005.
The Royal Wedding is a simple civil ceremony taking place at Windsor. On her marriage, Mrs Parker Bowles becomes HRH The Duchess of Cornwall. The royal engagement was announced after the couple had made many public appearances together. On 10 February, Mrs Parker Bowles was photographed with her engagement ring, a royal heirloom made of platinum with four diamonds.
Royal Mail has marked Royal Weddings with commemorative stamp issues for decades. These Royal Wedding stamps were designed by Typearea. They are available in a highly collectable range of products.
